TGOOD Australia is celebrating the completion of our Chinchilla battery substation project. Together with CS Energy, our role in this project was to construct primary substations and medium voltage reticulation for the battery megapacks (battery energy storge system or BESS). ⚡
The Chinchilla Battery is a grid-scale battery that stores energy for release when it is needed. Located in Queensland’s Western Downs region, at the Kogan Creek Clean Energy Hub, the battery can discharge 100MW of electricity to power 33,000 homes for two hours.
In 2021 TGOOD Australia was chosen to carry out the design, manufacture and supply of MV switchgear and HV switchgear installed in a prefabricated e-house building, pictured above, for the Chinchilla BESS project. On-site commissioning occurred early in 2024 and the Chinchilla battery became operational in July 2024.
